Sun is Setting at Gusev Crater. Remember the other day this fine Martian twilight? And the other day still, Earth evening star? Well! Today, you're granted with sunset itself! Take care not to stare directly at it! You might get blind just like on Earth! We are inside Gusev Crater, a vast, ancient Martian Crater, atop some hills there. It's 6:07 p.m. as those mountains at the horizon are the crater wall, 50 miles (80 km) away! The darker outline left is a foreground feature. The picture was taken on last May 19th, 2005 by rover Spirit, one of both NASA twin rovers which are currently working at Mars. NASA is aggressively targeting Mars to look for a watery past and a life-friendly environment, on one hand, and now, on the other hand, as part of the "Vision for Space Exploration" as announced by President Bush in 2004. Mars, beyond Moon, just becomes the other place in the solar system where man is bound to land! picture NASA/JPL/Texas A&M/Cornell
