Seasons in 2014

Here are the dates of seasons in 2014. Seasons are astronomical events in relation to the position of the Earth on its orbit around the Sun (for more about how seasons work, check our tutorial 'Seasons'). As 2014 is not a leap year, February will count 28 days

. spring or the vernal equinox occurs on March 20th at 16:57 UT
. summer or the summer solstice occurs on June 21st at 10:52 UT
. fall or the autumnal equinox occurs on September 23rd at 02:30 UT
. winter or the winter solstice occurs on December 21st at 23:03 UT

Each year Earth, further, is reaching its perihelion (its closest to the Sun) and aphelion (its farthest from the Sun). for more about how those concepts work, check too our tutorial 'Seasons'

. Earth's perihelion occurs on January 4th at 00:59 UT
. Earth's aphelion occurs on July 3rd at 22:59 UT
