The asteroid 1998 SF36 -or Itokawa from the father of Japanese rocketry- is an asteroid of the asteroid belt. Hayabusa will fire a bullett at it which will eject fragments. The probe will be back Earth by June 2007, parachuting a capsule containing the samples. On the other hand a new NASA orbiter is to launch on August, 3rd 2005. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter will settle on its definitive orbit at Mars in November 2006. It's an advanced survey mission, with more powerful instruments, which will be scouting for two next landing missions of 2007 and 2009 On the other hand, Cassini is continuing its 4-year tour of the Saturn's system. By year's beginning, on January 14th, the ESA Huygens probe it's carrying will descend into Titan's atmosphere. see our special coverage about the Cassini-Huygens mission (links above to missions do not link back here) Grands évènements spatiaux de 2005
