October 30th, 2005 Mars Perihelic Opposition. Accurate Data
data JPL's HORIZONS System at JPL's site JPL/SSD (dated October, 23rd 2004); times in UT |
Mid-Northern Latitudes (83°W, 24°E, 116°E) Equatorial Regions (83°W, 24°E, 116°E) Mid-Southern Latitudes (83°W, 24°E, 116°E)
Until the end of May, Mars is morning star, seeable on the southeastern horizon before sunrise. It begins to rise, East, about midnight local time since about mid-July only as it begins to be observable a large part of night later still, by mid-September. The Red Planet is then rising as soon as 9:30 p.m. local time. From then it's heading to its opposition that is this moment when it rises East when the Sun sets West hence it rises earlier and earlier each night. At the moment of the perihelic opposition, Mars will be high, transiting from the southeast to the southwest |
latitudes moyennes nord/83°W-24°E-116°E.
